Area Types & Tasks

Functions on this menu will give you a variety of ways to tailor Area Types so they reflect conditions at your institution. Tailoring the Area Types includes adding and deleting cleaning activities, changing times to accomplish activities and varying the frequencies of these cleaning activities.

A room can be assigned different activities in the three different work shifts. You can also create new Area Types as well as change activity times. It is important to understand that an Area Type really means two things:

1. It is a definition of all the tasks and their frequencies accomplished in a room, and thus determines the time and cost to clean the room. So, if a task frequency is changed in an Area Type, it changes the labor estimates and costs associated with all rooms designated that Area Type.

2. Since each task has a frequency, the Area Type is also the cleaning schedule for all rooms designated that Area Type. This cleaning schedule aspect affects any work assignment to which the room is attached.

Area Types & Task > EZ Area Type Setup

The primary function of EZ Area Type Setup is to allow fast control of task frequencies. Custom frequency setups for individual Area Types can be stored for future use and built-in setups 5-levels of cleanliness frequency settings can be recalled and modified.

Area Types & Task > Set Cleanliness Levels

You can change an area type to any of the five levels of clean, or store your current settings as a new, "custom" level. Let's say you've worked all day and made many changes to frequency settings in many different area types. You want to save this state, and want to do it all at once, rather than selecting each area type individually. You can save all your setting at once.

Area Types & Tasks > Reports

EZ and Advanced Area Type Setup Windows have report options available in them. More reports are available from the "Reports" command on the Area Types & Tasks Menu. The Print Category Worksheet Report contains the base times and current frequency settings for all categories and activities. It also has a fill-in-the-blank area for collecting this data prior to entering it in the program.

In these reports, the Adjusted Minutes figure takes into account both your productivity settings (Daily Productive Minutes—available from the Edit Details button on the home window) and the frequency of a task. For example, if the base time for a task is 10 minutes per cleaning per 1000 SF, then if the task is done daily the program will allocate 10 minutes times 480/(DPM) per day. But if the task is done weekly, only one fifth of that time will be allocated on a daily basis.
